  • Abstract: Research literacy is a critical dimension of the professional development of university foreign language teachers. However, teachers in these regions encounter distinct challenges in their academic development. Employing a grounded theory approach, this study conducted in-depth interviews with five university foreign language teachers in ethnic regions. The findings reveal that the enhancement of research literacy among this teacher cohort is synergistically driven by three pathways: personal construction, academic community interaction, and external empowerment. This study offers a preliminary exploratory framework based on a pilot study of five representative cases. It provides directional references for the development of the research literacy of university foreign language teachers in ethnic regions and provides empirical insights for relevant institutions and authorities to formulate supportive policies.
