Abstract:
The Communist Party and the Red Army were an important issue in the mass media of China
in 1930s. The KMT controlled media constructed the image of the Communist Party and the Red Army
in a stigmatized way. Although the level, scale and scope of the reports were unprecedented, the longterm false reports left many topics that could not be justified. These topics make it imperative for Fan
Changjiang and snow to travel westward. Fan Changjiang and snow’s journey to the west is less than a
year apart. By analyzing the texts of northwest corner of China and red star shining on China, we can
see that the former points to the backward traditional society, while the latter provides a reasonable
connection for the modern community imagination.
