• This paper researches the emotional framework of pathos in the public communicationspace during the emergence of early Chinese cinema in the 1920s to explore its influence on the start ofChinese cinema, and to discuss how pathos merged with nationalist narratives to form a sentimentalnationalist film narrative style.
