• 摘要： 韩礼德和哈桑的语篇衔接研究彰显了衔接在建构语篇连贯性与简洁性中的重要作用。本文以欧·亨利的短篇小说《麦琪的礼物》为例，分析了指称、省略、替代、同义、反义、上下义、搭配等主要衔接手段在短篇小说中的使用。使用语篇衔接手段有助于实现语篇逻辑连贯，为解读短篇小说类文本提供有效途径。语篇衔接手段也是洞悉作者刻画人物、深化主题的有效策略。
• Halliday's and Hasan's studies of discourse cohesion show that it plays an important role in the construction of coherence and conciseness.Taking the American writer O. Henry's short story The Gift of Magi as an example, this paper analyzes the use of main cohesive devices such as reference, ellipsis, substitution, synonymy, antonym, hyponym and collocation in short stories, so as to achieve discourse logical coherence, master the effective way of short story text interpretation, and gain insight into the author's strategy of portraying characters and deepening themes.
