A Detailed Social Psychological Study in Euphemisms

• 摘要： 迄今为止，古今中外学者对委婉语展开了语义研究、文化研究、语用学角度的研究、社会角度的研究及模糊理论研究，成绩斐然，但是缺憾也不少，其中之一是对委婉语产生的社会心理原因探究不够细致入微，还仅仅停留在对避讳、礼貌和政治伪装的研究层面。在本文中，笔者旁征博引，在前人研究的基础上进一步将委婉语产生的社会心理原因作了如下归纳：因敬畏鬼神、尊祖敬宗和避凶就吉的避讳；礼貌与自尊；自我保护性的掩饰和伪装；羞怯及对权势的畏惧。
• Studies in Euphemisms have been so far made from many perspectives, such as semantic study. cultural study pragmatic study, social study and the study based on the theory of ambiguity, ete. Although many achievements have been made, deficiencies still exist, and one of them is the social psychological study in euphemisms,which is restricted to the study of taboo avoidance, politeness and political disguise.In this paper, the author attempts to make a more detailed social psychological study in euphemisms,which is restricted to the study of taboo avoidance, politeness and political disguise. In this paper, the author atempts to make a more detailed social psychological study in euphemisms. Through extensive and deep exploration, the author draws a conclusion that the social psychological factors at work in the occurrence of euphemisms are as follows: taboo avoidance to show awe to gods and ghosts, to show respect for ancestors or to create an auspicious atmosphere; politeness and self- respect; self-defensive disguise; shyness and the fear of power.
