  • Abstract: Mountainous regions nurture intangible cultural heritage categories such as Emei, Qingcheng, and Green Forest martial arts, as well as Mengshan tea art, with their ecological landscapes and reclusive culture shaping the techniques and spiritual essence of these traditions. Under the backdrop of urbanization and commercialized cultural tourism, these heritages have emerged from remote mountains, undergoing a transformation from “mountain seclusion to urban performance to value restoration”. However, they commonly face challenges like cultural alienation and transmission gaps. Existing research merely simplistically views mountains as geographical carriers, lacking comprehensive cultural contextual analysis and a comparative framework across martial and literary schools. This study conducts semi-structured interviews with four representative inheritors from major schools, employing grounded theory to construct a living transmission model. Findings reveal: the mountainous environment possesses dual attributes of nurturing and constraining, forming the foundational substrate for inheritance; the shared origins of martial arts and medicine, along with mountainous roots, constitute the core cultural essence of schools; institutional standards and educational transmission serve as parallel intermediary pathways; industrialization can reciprocally support cultural preservation; inheritors act as the full-chain implicit intermediaries, through whom external resources and constraints determine the subsequent developmental trajectory of schools. This research enriches the theoretical system of mountainous intangible heritage transmission, offering practical references for balancing cultural authenticity and market-driven development.
