《飘》中话语标记语well的语用功能及汉译探析

• 摘要： 话语标记语well语用功能强大，在话语交际中频繁出现。借助文学作品《飘》中丰富的well语料，本文统计分析出well作为话语标记语的五种语用功能，即话语结构功能、信息功能、面子威胁缓和功能、延缓标记功能和情感揭示功能。本文以关联理论为指导，考察三大主要译本是否忠实再现原著中“well”的语用效果。多数情况下，三大译本均能借助汉语话语标记语实现构建最佳关联，但也存在译文值得商榷的情况。基于各大译本不足，本文提出well汉译的两大建议，即充分利用汉语话语标记实现译文多样化和借用非标记语手段实现翻译等值，以期对话语标记语的汉译有所启示。
• With abundant pragmatic functions, the discourse marker well is frequently used in verbal interactions. After the analysis of the collected data in the American novel Gone with the Wind, it is found that well can act as a topic management marker, information management marker, mitigator of face-threatening acts, hesitation or delay marker of some speech acts and marker revealing mood. Guided by Relevance Theory, this paper analyzes whether three translated versions can retain the original functions of well as a discourse marker. In most cases, three translated versions can achieve optimal relevance. However, there are some exceptions deserving further discussion. Based on inequivalent expressions in three translated versions, this paper also concludes two suggestions of translating well. The first is to make full use of Chinese discourse markers to make tranaltion more diversified; the second is to apply non-discourse markers to achieve equivalence in pragmatic functions.
