Abstract:
This study aimed to explore the influence of sense of meaning in life on academic self-efficacy among junior high school students, and to examine the mediating roles of psychological resilience and time management disposition in this relationship. Using the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, Meaning in Life Scale, Psychological Resilience Scale and Time Management Disposition Scale, we conducted a questionnaire survey among students from three junior high schools in Suzhou and Suqian of Jiangsu Province, and Tianchang of Anhui Province. A total of 1910 questionnaires were distributed. The results indicated that: (1) Boys scored significantly higher than girls in academic self-efficacy, psychological resilience and time management disposition. (2) Sense of meaning in life could significantly and positively predict junior high school students’ academic self-efficacy. (3) Both psychological resilience and time management disposition played partial mediating roles between sense of meaning in life and academic self-efficacy. (4) Psychological resilience and time management disposition formed a chain mediating effect between sense of meaning in life and academic self-efficacy.
