Musical is a comprehensive art form integrating music, drama, andliterature. Its cross-cultural communication and localization pose uniquechallenges for musical dubbing. This paper takes case of the Chinese dubbingteam of The Phantom of the Opera as a case study, analyzing its operationcharacteristics and advantages. It applies translation norm theory to examinethe entire workflow of the dubbing team, exploring how translation normscontribute to enhancing text quality and work efficiency. The Chinese dubbingteam of The Phantom of the Opera adopts an effective collaborative model.By flexibly applying translation norms and corresponding strategies, the teamimproves dubbing quality, providing valuable insights for the localization andcommercial operation of musicals. This paper enriches the theoretical andpractical aspects of musical dubbing research, offering valuable references andimprovements for other musical dubbing teams.
