Abstract:
The power operation mode of the ruling class in anti-utopian novels is mostly based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory, which maximizes the exploitation of the oppressed groups by suppressing or depriving the ruled class of their external conditions so that their middle and higher needs are not satisfied. Therefore, this article, from the perspective of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, analyzes the mode of power operation of the ruling class in the three anti-utopian novels including Brave New World, Never Let Me Go and The Handmaid’s Tale.
