• Abstract: This study takes the Harry Potter series as its research object, analyzing the identity construction of “blood status” and “sorting” in the novels from the perspective of conceptual metaphor. Through the opposition between “pureblood” and “Muggle-born,” as well as the ritual and system of “House Sorting,” the novels demonstrate the crucial role of metaphor in shaping social identity and personal selfhood. Employing textual analysis within the framework of conceptual metaphor theory, this paper reveals that blood status metaphors primarily rely on the “purity–pollution” mapping pattern, emphasizing hierarchical differences and exclusion in identity. In contrast, sorting metaphors, through the “container–belonging” and “choice–destiny” metaphorical patterns, transform individual character and values into group labels. The study finds that these two types of metaphor not only drive the narrative forward but also reflect cognitive patterns and cultural conceptions concerning social relations and self-identity within the English-speaking context. The significance of this research lies in expanding the application of cognitive linguistics to the interpretation of literary texts, while also offering a new perspective for understanding modes of English thought. 本研究以《哈利·波特》系列为研究对象，从概念隐喻的视角分析小说中“血统”与“分类”的身份建构问题。小说通过“纯血统”与“麻瓜出身”的对立，以及“学院分类”的仪式与制度，展现了隐喻在塑造社会身份和个人认同中的重要作用。本文采用文本分析的方法，结合概念隐喻理论，揭示了血统隐喻主要依赖于“纯洁—污染”的映射模式，强调身份的等级差异与排斥；而分类隐喻则通过“容器—归属”与“选择—命运”的隐喻模式，将个性与价值观转化为群体标签。研究发现，这两类隐喻不仅推动了故事情节的发展，也折射出英语语境下关于社会关系与自我认同的认知方式和文化观念。本研究的意义在于拓展了认知语言学在文学文本解读中的应用，同时为理解英语思维方式提供了新的视角。
