- Abstract: In response to the call for Chinese culture to “go global,” the translation community has increasingly prioritized the translation of regional literature. As a classic literary work highly representative of the Jiangnan region, the Wu dialect novel He Dian features a text rich in dialect and Wu cultural characteristics that highlights regional cultural distinctiveness, and its translation holds significant potential for cross-linguistic communication. Drawing on translation and communication studies as a theoretical framework and employing the encoding-decoding theory as an analytical model, this paper systematically examines the translation strategies for Wu dialect slang in He Dian and investigates how different translation approaches affect its cultural dissemination in foreign-language contexts. The study finds that by combining literal translation, free translation, and cultural compensation, translators ensure the accurate transmission of meaning while preserving the distinctive features of the Wu dialect and the text’s stylistic qualities to the greatest extent possible, thereby achieving effective cross-cultural communication. This study offers valuable insights for strategies regarding the dissemination of Wu culture. 为响应中国文化“走出去”的号召，翻译界对地方文学的外译工作日益重视。吴语小说《何典》作为极具江南地域代表性的经典文学作品，其富含方言和吴地文化特征的文本突显了地域文化特性，其译文具有显著的跨语言传播潜力。本文以翻译传播学为理论视角，以编码—解码理论作为分析框架，系统梳理《何典》中吴语俚语的翻译策略，并研究不同翻译方式对其外译文化传播效果的影响。研究发现，译者采用直译、意译与文化代偿相结合的方式，在保证语义准确传递的基础上，尽可能保留吴语特色与文本风格，实现有效跨文化传播。本研究为吴地文化传播策略提供一定参考。
