Abstract:
This study examines the effectiveness of systemic family therapy in addressing mobile phone dependency among migrant children. After working with 12-year-old Suisui and her family through multiple interventions, it was determined that her phone dependency was closely linked to family interaction patterns, such as inverted generational hierarchies, triangulated conflicts, and blocked emotional expression. Therapeutic techniques such as genogram mapping, cyclical questioning, the “red and white ledger” and parent-child negotiation were used to rebuild family relationships, strengthen emotional connections, and enhance communication. The results demonstrated that the family intervention effectively reduced Suisui’s mobile phone usage, alleviated her anxiety and depression, and enhanced family functioning and mutual support. This study provides practical guidance for addressing mobile phone addiction among migrant children through systematic interventions, emphasizing the importance of initiating positive change through family relationships.
