Abstract:
Mate-selection is influenced by social information and previous experience. Individuals obtain social information by observing others of the same sex and form a pattern of selecting potential mates, that is, mate choice coping. This paper reviews the development of mate choice coping theory, summarizes the empirical studies and theoretical explanations of mate choice coping, comments on the limitations of research paradigms, neural mechanisms and cross-cultural comparison, and looks forward to future research.
