Abstract:
We aims to explore the evolution of gender roles and social status of Chinese women. Initially, we examine the transformation from matriarchal to patriarchal societies under the influence of economic, political, and sociocultural factors, and their profound impact on gender role perceptions, which have become an integral part of individual subconsciousness. Secondly, we compare the national and societal factors in China and Western countries that contribute to the elevation of women’s status, analyzing the underlying influences within Chinese women’s gender role perceptions. Lastly, the Anima/Animus archetype theory from analytical psychology has been introduced to discuss the role of depth psychological theories in the development and integration of gender role concepts.
