Abstract:
This study aims to explore the relationship between fatigue and internet gaming addiction among junior high school students, with a focus on analyzing the moderating role of cognitive reappraisal. A survey involving 12,537 junior high school students was conducted using subjective exercise experience fatigue scales, internet gaming addiction scales, and cognitive reappraisal scales for emotional regulation. Structural equation modeling was employed for data analysis. The results indicate that fatigue significantly predicts internet gaming addiction (β=0.42, p< 0.001), with cognitive reappraisal playing a negative moderating role in this relationship (β=-0.02, p<0.001). This finding suggests that adopting positive cognitive reappraisal strategies may help mitigate the negative impact of fatigue on internet gaming addiction, particularly during periods of high stress and fatigue. The study’s findings provide theoretical support for developing intervention strategies, emphasizing the importance of cognitive reappraisal in alleviating fatigue and reducing internet gaming addiction. These insights not only guide the management of adolescent mental health but also pave the way for further exploration of emotional regulation strategies in the developmental process of adolescents.
