  • Abstract: This paper reports a counseling case of a college student who sought help for nightmare-related fear of sleep, cyclical emotional fluctuations, binge eating, self-denial, and interpersonal avoidance. The client had experienced insufficient emotional responsiveness in her family, peer rejection, and the death of a close family member, and gradually developed negative core beliefs such as “I am not good” and “A child from my family cannot be normal”. From the perspective of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, the counselor conceptualized the client’s difficulties as conflicts among multiple internal parts, including a fearful part that avoided sleep, a firefighter part that suppressed distress through binge eating, and exiled parts carrying shame, grief, loneliness, and helplessness. The intervention followed the core procedures of IFS and aimed to help the client gradually access the qualities of the Self, such as calmness, curiosity, clarity, and compassion, while establishing nonjudgmental relationships with her internal parts. The results showed that the client’s pathological interpretation of her symptoms was reduced, her awareness of the protective functions of different parts increased, and her fear of sleep, binge eating, emotional instability, and self-rejection were alleviated to some extent. Follow-up and later re-engagement in counseling suggested that change in such cases tends to be gradual, recurrent, and nonlinear. This case indicates that IFS may provide an integrative framework for understanding and intervening in college students with emotional distress associated with trauma history, affect dysregulation, and conflicts in self-identity. It also suggests that IFS can be meaningfully applied in university counseling settings when combined with trauma-informed care, supportive interventions, and psychiatric collaboration when necessary. 为探讨内在家庭系统疗法(Internal Family Systems,IFS)在大学生复杂情绪困扰中的应用价值,本文报告一例因梦魇恐惧、情绪周期性波动、暴食、自我否定及人际回避而求助的大学生个案。来访者伴有早期家庭情感回应不足、同伴排斥及亲人离世等经历,并形成“我是不好的”“我这样的家庭成长出来的孩子不可能正常”等负性核心信念。咨询中,咨询师基于IFS理论,将其症状概念化为不同内在“部分”之间的冲突,包括回避睡眠的恐惧部分、通过暴食压制痛苦的救火员部分,以及承载羞耻、悲伤和无助体验的被放逐部分等。咨询围绕IFS的核心工作步骤展开,逐步促进来访者激活“真我(Self)”的平静、好奇、慈悲等资源,并与各“部分”建立非评判性关系。结果显示,来访者对自身症状的病理化理解减弱,能够逐步识别和理解不同部分的保护功能,睡眠恐惧和暴食行为有所缓解,情绪波动周期缩短,自我接纳水平有所提升。后续随访及再次预约情况提示,该类个案的改变呈反复和渐进特点。该案例表明,IFS可为高校心理咨询中伴有创伤背景、情绪失调和自我认同冲突的学生提供一种整合性的理解与干预路径。
