Abstract:
This paper delves into the adjustments made by Chinese Protestant institutions to their Education Faculty curricula to better meet their unique needs. Through a thorough review of the electronic curriculum bulletins hosted by the Yale Divinity School Library, we have identified two strategies employed by these institutions for localization. The first strategy involves adapting professional education to the local context, while the second involves incorporating traditional Chinese culture into general education. As a result, it is concluded that the localization represents a fusion of Chinese and Western cultures. The most noteworthy aspect of this localization effort is its focus on addressing educational challenges in rural China. Moreover, the institutions’ attempt to integrate traditional Chinese culture with Christian values represented an effort to foster constructive dialogue and mitigate cultural conflicts between civilizations.
