Developing a Four-Dimensional Collaborative Education Model in the Clean Energy Sector: A Science-Education-Talent Nexus Perspective

  • Abstract: To achieve the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, there is an urgent need to establish a collaborative talent development system that integrates science and technology, education, and human resources. Currently, talent development in the clean energy sector faces structural challenges such as entrenched disciplinary barriers, insufficient integration of science and education, and poor alignment between industry and education, making it difficult to meet the contemporary demands for the development of new quality productive forces. Drawing upon a theoretical framework for the integrated development of science, technology, education, and talent, this paper proposes a “four-dimensional integrated” collaborative talent development model for the clean energy sector, comprising the dimensions of curriculum restructuring, joint construction of practical platforms, collaborative faculty development, and coordinated evaluation mechanisms. This model adopts “value-led — knowledge integration — progressive competency development — innovation-driven” as its central educational thread. By breaking down disciplinary barriers to build interdisciplinary course clusters, dismantling barriers between universities, enterprises, and research institutions to establish multi-level practical platforms, transcending role boundaries to build joint university-enterprise faculty teams, and moving beyond single-dimensional evaluation to establish a multidimensional, interconnected assessment mechanism, the model achieves the organic integration of the education, talent, industrial, and innovation chains. Research suggests that talent cultivation in the clean energy sector should shift from a “discipline-oriented” approach to a “problem-oriented” one, from “knowledge transmission” to “competency building”, and from “university-led education” to “multi-stakeholder collaborative education”. By reshaping the educational ecosystem with an integrated mindset, this model provides the talent support and intellectual assurance needed to serve the nation’s “Dual Carbon” strategy.
